The summer is off to such a busy start, but I’ve been sneaking in a bit of time to work on Primitive Gatherings’ American Quilters’ Stitch Along (SAL)! Aren’t these flag blocks so cute?! Every Thursday during the SAL Lisa Bongean is releasing one block pattern on her blog and including a video tutorial on her YouTube channel for easy step-by-step instructions. The patterns are graciously being offered for free in an effort to raise donations for Hogs For Heroes.
Three blocks in, and the Anvil variation block might already be my favorite. Does anyone know what the actual name of this block is? If you haven’t been following this stitch along (SAL), the American Quilters’ SAL-Block 3 blog post summarizes the information you need to know to get started. I can’t wait to see how this quilt turns out. Only twelve more blocks to go! I think the hardest part is going to be picking out the sashing for in between the flags. I’m thinking a grey-blue fabric. What do you think? If you are participating in the American Quilter’s SAL, I would love for you to share your progress!
In some non-quilty news, this weekend I hosted a sweet little bridal shower for my baby sister who is getting married in August! I couldn’t resist sharing a few photos.
This week I hope to finish binding a couple small quilts, and perhaps start a wool appliqué project I have kitted. What’s on your summer to-do list? Is anyone participating in any upcoming SALs?
